On April 13th, the girls track team had a three day trip at a track meet where they secured multiple podium finishes at their recent track meet. This success showed off the school achievement in their sports category; highlighting the dedication and hard work of these young athletes.
Within competing against District 11-5A strong regional contenders, the team made third place, excelling across various track and field disciplines. Their performances not only demonstrated individual talent but also reflected the strength of their collective training and perseverance. Furthermore, winning in the 4×200 relay and succeeding a bronze medal for the team. The competition was on a school day. Due to that reason, the team missed three school days, having to balance school work and training.
Ariana Contreras participated in the relay and expressed how she balances her school life.
“I balance schoolwork and training by managing my time in the most efficient way possible in the afternoon,” Contreras said. “So I can have adequate sleep for my training the next day when we have study halls, so I make sure to take full advantage.”
This District Competition win means a lot to the girls, showing off their consistent efforts that had led to this incredible result. This podium success at the meet underscores LT’s growing reputation for fostering female athletic excellence. The girls’ achievements will inspire the younger students and contribute to the levels of dedication for others.
Through the struggles of being a student athlete, it was the team’s shared determination and encouragement that kept them going—both in practice and when the pressure of the district meet weighed heavily. The coaches make sure to always prepare the girls for the best, having classes where they stretch and studyhall for homework resources.
“My teammates constantly inspire me to do better, and push me to be the best I can be.” Cortreras said, “They do this through cheering me on, sharing race strategies, and by simply being there to keep me motivated.”
As the season progresses, Lebanon Trail’s track team looks forward to building onto the success of future district levels through momentum, and aiming for continued success while embodying the spirit of resilience and teamwork.
