Electric. Iconic. Unforgettable. The 2026 Grammy Awards delivered all this and more. Set against the glittering stage of Los Angeles, history was made. Legends shared quiet conversations with rising stars, yet only a select few captured the spotlight. By the end of the night, it was obvious that their names were forever etched into music history.

The 68th Grammy Awards were held in Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, February 1. For a third year in a row, Trevor Noah returned to host the award show. The show was broadcast by Paramount and CBS.
The 2026 Grammys highlighted a wide variety of music genres. Bad Bunny won Album of the Year for “Debi Tirar Mas Fotos.” He also won in Latin categories. Kendrick Lamar left as the most awarded rapper in Grammy history. He earned Record of the Year with “Luther” and Best Rap Album for “GNX”. Billie Eilish won Song of the Year with “Wildflower.” Olivia Dean was recognized as Best New Artist, making 2026 her breakout year. Lady Gaga is continuing to solidify her status by winning multiple awards, the most notable being Best Pop Vocal for “Mayhem.” Icons and emerging artists dominated the night with music ranging from rap to pop.

However, the Grammys wouldn’t be as memorable without its performances. Bruno Mars and Rose kicked off the night with a high energy performance of APT. Lady Gaga continued to live up to her icon status with a stellar showing of “Abracadabra.” It was full of dramatic stage lights, choreography, and gothic inspired visuals. The Best New Artist performance brought together all the nominees- Addison Rae, Alex Warren, KATSEYE, Leon Thomas, Lola Young, Olivia Dean, Sombr, The Marias- that highlighted all sorts of music. Lauryn Hill, an American singer and rapper, owned the stage to honor D’Angelo and Roberta Flack with a combination of their biggest hits.

Like always, critics and fans had plenty to say about the final awards. Starting off strong, Sabrina Carpenter received six nominations and walked away without a single award. Justin Bieber, a longtime musical artist, with many nominations including Album of the Year, left without any trophies to show for his effort. Bruno Mars, Rose, and Lady Gaga had wonderful performances and collaborations yet didn’t win in any categories they were expected to. Some critics have questioned whether Billie Eilish’s Song of the Year award could’ve gone to many other contenders. On a more positive note, Bad Bunny’s album was the first ever Spanish album to win the top prize. This came as quite a shock to numerous people due to the heavy competition.

After more than three hours, the 2026 Grammys came to a close, highlighting a shift in the music industry. Emerging artists won awards while longtime performers received fewer than anticipated. Certain wins marked the beginning of a career while others called attention to global and social issues. All in all, this year’s Grammy Award Show showcased a wide variety of music, performances, and achievements that defined music in 2026.
